fulsome talent
Monday’s recording was a smooth running affair, but we ran out of time to fully explore Robin Boothroyd’s poetics. Matt Battle did a live reading of his short story The Rain Came Down. After the show we talked about the Bildungsroman with our producers and enjoyed some of the finest strawberries in London.

It occurred to me that you might not be able to get online at our usual show time (3-4 on Mondays), so from next week the show will be available via the listen again feature on the Xstreameast website – there’s a link here.

With Johnny Cash’s Fulsom gig for audio wallpaper, we’re in the throes of preparing next week’s Arts Show. Confirmed as guests are Canadian choreographer Maddy Wynne-Jones and memorist and poet Helen Bond. Ideas for literary filler currently include a study of Henry Miller’s work – the Parisian prostitutes, the disillusioned prose, his questing and free mind, which inspired the beat poets and the sexual revolution. We’ve a review of a mutilation film, and who knows, we may see more of Julie Andrews.
If you’ve suggestions for content, or comments on the show itself, please do get in touch via this blog.
